Description
The Portaway Mine operated on the western perimeter of the Grange Quarry. A single shaft can still be found at SJ 1690 7610, situated alongside the public footpath. Several other shafts remain to the south of this location at SJ 1690 7590, which are associated with later 19th-century mining activities in the area.
