I am currently scanning all my old photos. Most of them are properly labelled or I can recall where they are. However, this one has nothing and I don't have much idea where it was taken. I am fairly confident it was taken on a visit to Cornwall in March 1990, when I attended a Trevithick Society meeting at Levant, and then made my way to King Edward Mine 'looking at engine houses on the way." If you recognise them, please let me know where they are! I imagine they are familiar to a number of members here and they seem to have been in pretty good condition in 1990.

A bit more. the give away is the chain link security fence with concrete posts and the power cables . It was used briefly by South West water as a supply, so I understand. Its an unusual feature anyway and stuck in my mind.

You could come and "fix" my scanner if you like! The original print(s) are still pretty good after 34 years!

Frustratingly, I have been searching my old photos for ones I took of this site, but no can find. I have memories of a wooden hut like a garden shed inside the security compound surrounding the shaft, and a notice on the fence - "South West Water". presumably they had fitted submersible pumps in the shaft. Bet all overgrown now.

I couldn't resist generating an image with the text "Cornish engine house Fortesque's Shaft Wheal Grenville tin mine" using deepai.org

you see... you don't need a scanner! You can hardly tell the difference?

No hut anymore and they have just replaced the chain link fence with a shiny new one, it's like Colditz, presumably they are worried about people getting in through the 4" vent pipe ;)
