Remember from years back, before elf 'n safety, one of those quarries (Haytor) we had a long scout hike with checkpoints and unexpected obstacles/challenges. Swimming out to retrieve an object from that quarry was one of them... COLD!!! especially as an unexpected activity in the middle of a long hike (no towels etc and it was a cold wet day). Thank goodness that wasn't my short straw and I could spectate that obstacle.

I had dialogue with Glyn a year or so ago - thanks for reminding us of his excellent blog. Our correspondence was mainly about London Bridge and Strand Bridge.
