Old pics of Mining around Eyam

I read a while back, that account and pic of the reopening of the mine. Liking the humour that they were wound back up to make sure they'd heard about a death before being sent down ;)

Greatly enjoyed reading it again. Thanks

Jeez some memories there Les (Andy Smith & Bill Casson) would love to see some more pics if you have them
Sadly not. I have a few more random surface shots at Wellhope but no people on them. Nothing underground. U/G photography was tedious then and everybody hated being with a photographer 'cause the trip took ages!

Mark, when were the tin sheds knocked down?
I can remember seeing them whilst out hiking in the late 1960's but don't remember when they went.

I recall seeing and article somewhere on the capping of the shaft at Glebe mine. I thought it was in the PDMHS archives but I can't find anything. Any ideas?

Doug Nash wrote it, and it was published in Mining History but it's proving elusive with searches on the website... I'll have to trawl the indexes manually to find the reference.

Or were you thinking of when the site was cleared in advance of the new housing development and Pippin Swallet was rediscovered under the mine waste? If so, that was published in Descent.

It was definitely something to do withthe new houses on the site. I seem to remember something with big concrete rings.
