I read a while back, that account and pic of the reopening of the mine. Liking the humour that they were wound back up to make sure they'd heard about a death before being sent down

Is that the same winch we used on Wellhope shaft at Alston with Andy Smith, I remember a yellow kibble

No, on that one we used a diesel winch, same headgear though. Different kibble too. We didn't have the air winch until you bought it for us for the water tunnel job.

Sadly not. I have a few more random surface shots at Wellhope but no people on them. Nothing underground. U/G photography was tedious then and everybody hated being with a photographer 'cause the trip took ages!

Mark, when were the tin sheds knocked down?
I can remember seeing them whilst out hiking in the late 1960's but don't remember when they went.
