Please Help Make A Clean-Up List!

Hey all,

Just wondering if all of you peeps can help me, i want to make a list of caves and mines that need cleaning up 💪where you find the following: "Litter, Rubbish & Graffiti"
Maybe the whole location needs a clean-up, or just the entrance.
Any info or pictures would be great!

So can you help me make a list of locations that need some TLC?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

we done the car cave recently and when I nipped in the other day thankfully there was no spraypaint but seems to attract a lot of black bags plus there was more boats added, its frustration as we spent some time and our own money to get rid of full caged trailer of rubbish. I'm always up for helping to put places back to how they should be

I love that, well done for getting rid of the trailer of rubbish, I do agree, restoring these historical places to how they should be is very satisfying, we recently just cleaned up Talargoch mine, we moved 4 whole bin bags full of rubbish ❤️🔥

Well I would look into box if you want to try clean a whole mine . I suspect that will require a lorry for rubbish and a lorry full of wire brushes.

Only go if you can navigate .

Maenofferen, Box, Foel grochan, Llanberis bomb store....Those are the worst we have seen.
Bwlch glas and others are full of farmers fencing and feed bags. almost impossible to sort those shafts without machinery.

Just be careful if you are planning to clear up graffiti a lot of times this is placed next to historical miners inscriptions.
Yea there is a certain mine in Lake District this happened in .

Also box mine I have seen it countless times over the original graffiti.

Yeah 100%, if we remove any graffiti, we will be sure to not move it if it's one of the old sprayings by the workers.

We will focus more on rubbish itself, and hopefully take someone local that knows which spray paint is old and new.

If you find people that cause call outs on YouTube 👺 go to them places 3 months later , every tour bus on the planet will have been . I guarantee it will be full of rubbish .

I think what you’re doing tidying them up is very good .

Thank you, my friends and I love exploring underground, and we want to make sure that people who go explore in the future get to see the mine as the workers seen it when they stopped working there, to help restore it back to its heritage is a privilege and an honour.

@BikinGlynn do you have a photo showing the damage in cath.

@Royfellows do you have a photo showing it originally?

All my visits I was that destroyed , i just sat in amazement of the growing damage.

The local clubs who I am part of , emptied the well in cath many times , I am talking 30 -40 bin bags of rubbish .

These also help maintain browns & swan .

Shows modern damage

Shows writing from a professional survey .

Have you all heard about the “damage “ caused by the crane restoration projects ??

The stopes of coniston copper mines around Simons nick are littered with rubbish around the entrances. Then the level under brow stopes also has its fair share of stuff people have thrown down

Hey folks.

Update:
This is where I am at so far, Take a look at this document, if anyone can help clarify information, that may need correcting on my list as it is now, that can help I would be very grateful.

Any locations that you think should be added to the list, please let me know 🍺

I have a full active spreadsheet, if you would like to help out further the information I have, and get clarity, send a Direct Message and I can add you to the list of people who can edit,

I plan to send this to the secretaries of caving clubs so they can edit and add any information on their clubs' conservation activities.

If you are already a secretary for a caving club, feel free to Message me, for access to the spreadsheet directly.

So the information I am looking for in their categories on the spreadsheet is as follows:

Cave or Mine? - is the named location a cave or a mine?

Access Status? is it any of the following - Unknown, Open Access, Open Gated Access, Locked Gated Access, Club Access, Derbyshire Key, Landowner Dispute.

Which of the following does the named location have - Spraypaint? Rubbish? Both?

Maybe you have personally been looking after a location, or maybe with a club, and have been/are cleaning it up, let me know. I will add said location and your efforts to the list.

Please help me add locations that should be on the list.

All help and information is greatly appreciated

Thank You
SDC

If you go to the Buddlepit search page: https://buddlepit.co.uk/mine-explorer/Database/MineSearch.html

Select Advanced 1730639495253.png

Filter on Mine and Open Access 1730639530939.png

Then Search leaving rest of options as they are 1730639624648.png

Then order by Name 1730639588683.png (change Results per page to 100 if you want)

You should be able to cross reference your list to get which ones are open access.

Optional Step. Feel free to say Buddlepit Mine Search is better than AN Mine Search on any forums of your choice, even mention in passing that it's fully responsive for mobile usage for the younger mine explorer ... 😎
