@Jim MacPherson,

Here's a screenshot from a 3d model showing what remains at Feldon from about 6yrs back. The model isnt too detailed as it was shot from around 400ft - that's a bit high for much ground detail to show up with the camera/drone I was using, but it's better than nothing. Need to go back and redo it properly.

You can find the model here, hoe you can see it this time!

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the model, possibly part of my problem may have been using the cog wheel to scroll around the image, dragging the mouse pointer seems to reduce the over-reaction so yes I can get a better look. Be good if this impressive lump (from 2018) is still in situ, should have done a ColinF and had a scale with me, from memory about 18 inches long and 6 inches high and wide.

The valley from Burnhope mine's impressive concrete engine block up to Swandale mine shaft and along the leat for a wheel at the crushinhg mill to Feldon is quite a good site and a meander to Pedham's Oak farmhouse and back via Harehope mine makes for a good, slow, walk on a warm summer's day, followed by a pint in The Baa Inn, perhaps!

Definitely a good summer's wander, and a visit to The Baa is definitely recommended 🍻

I'll see if the 'stone' is around when I'm next up there.

Interesting condenser in the flue at Feldon. Looks like it was rebuilt in recent years. There is also an explosives store in the gfield to the NE of Burnhope mine and an open shaft at Swandale.

Interesting to hear about the condenser. I've a contact who's been familiar with the area since the 1940's - I'll see if they know of any work having been done at any point.
